Presbyterian Women


Presbyterian Women began in 1789 and is opened to all women of the church.  Those women who choose to participate in this organization are involved in Bible study, prayer, outreach, and fellowship.  At First Presbyterian Church, Longview the approximately 100 women meet in smaller groups called Circles.  The meetings are on Monday and Tuesday.

The formal purpose of Presbyterian Women
(Presbyterian Church U.S.A.):

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, We commit ourselves:

     ●  ...to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible Study;
     ●  ...to support the mission of the church worldwide;
     ●  ...to work for justice and peace; and
     ●  ...to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the
        Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.
    
Presbyterian Women - Each year new officers are installed in May and serve for one year.  The year's calendar will include Council Meetings, Circle meetings that include, Bible Study and prayer, and five luncheon meetings and programs.  The programs are both entertaining and educational.

Presbyterian Women continue to serve the church larger mission.

The Presbyterian Women graciously provide baked goods for many functions at the church, such as the Advent Festival, PCC Style Show and PCC Fall Festival.

Circles step in when church members need extra help at life-changing times.  They are called, on a rotation basis, to help address the needs of all church members in times of crisis.  Wait this in mind, we remain ready to be soldiers of Christ, steadfast in our common goal to serve our congregation.
