ANNOUNCEMENTS

We offer our Christian sympathy to the following

John and Julie Ray in the loss of his daughter, Allison

Rob and Carol Schmidt in the loss of his mother, Ernestine Schmidt

Lillian Shorter in the loss of her brother [name]

Dorothy Chandler in the loss of her grandson, Travis Dower

Chaney Bennett in the loss of her sister, Ginger Hinkley

From Gaynelle Brashear:  You’re so thoughtful to bring me the loving and lovely Easter lily. I really enjoyed visiting with Marge Smith. I appreciate your prayers and thoughtfulness.

From Frances Landers [of the Haiti Education Foundation, Inc.]:  Well, I MADE IT!! At 91 I traveled to Haiti, rode over the mountains to visit our schools and had a great time. I will admit to you that I “DID” again have pneumonia on my return, but I caught it early, was treated at home and am now fine again. My visit was WONDERFUL. We were so pleased with the progress in our schools. The two priests in charge are working very hard to educate and feed 14,000 children. This is possible only because people like you are willing to share. We now have teachers in our kindergarten classes who have received all of their education in “our” schools. Our high school seniors dream of going to college. Thank you for your gift...that will lift children in poverty into a NEW LIFE. Each $55 scholarship pays all of a child’s expenses for ONE YEAR. One hundred percent of this gift will be sent to Haiti for the children.

From Molly Sherrod:  Thank you for the Reformation Study Bible. Thank you for the senior luncheon. It was very nice, and I really enjoyed the slide show. Thanks again for thinking of me at this special time in my life.

From Kim [McNeal] Reagh:  Thank you so much for the baby Bible and the pretty washcloth. It really meant a lot to our family to receive the gifts from the church.

From Steve Paine:  The family of Mrs. Garland Baldwin and Steve Paine sincerely thank the congregation for your notes, phone calls, flowers and support following the death of Kenneth E. Baldwin, Jr., son and brother. Your prayers are felt daily, and we ask that God bless each of you and your families. Please continue to celebrate Kenny’s life with our family through prayer and actions. Thank you.

We welcome Karen Jakubowski into membership of First Presbyterian Church. Karen joined June 8. She and her husband, John, and their children (Jamielee, age 12, and Jimmie, nearly age 8) live at Lake Cherokee.

CHURCH DIRECTORY UPDATES

Our 2008 church directory will be printed this summer and we need all the current information for our members and frequent visitors that may have changed since the most recent directory—new addresses, phone numbers, work numbers, cell phone numbers (if desired), children’s names, e-mail addresses, etc.

As always, we hope to have the new directory available on Rally Day at the end of August, so please let us know as soon as possible if you have any changes to make.
